A quick rundown today of some Android news and notes, brings us to the latest on the fast selling Droid Incredible. And when I say “fast selling”, I mean it. Verizon is having a hard time keeping up with demand. So much in fact, that there is a shortage of parts, which is the main reason for a lack of available phones. Verizon says there is a overall shortage of AMOLED displays, which are manufactured by Samsung.
Don’t point the finger at Verizon, because they are pointing it right back at Samsung. Before it went into production, seems Samsung wasn’t able to procure enough displays, thus resulting in a overall shortage. Verizon has had to take steps to relieve the situation. They have decided to slow down in-store purchases, in order to keep up with the massive amount of online orders.
Verizon CEO Lowell McAdam confirmed all of this on Friday. He went on to say that he is upset at Samsung, they had high sales hopes for the Incredible. He says if there was enough supply of the Android powered handset, it would of easily outsold its predecessor, the Motorola Droid. Verizon sold over 100,000 units in the first two days! That’s pretty good, you can now see why they’re all sold out.
Verizon states that most all orders will be fulled and available on June 3rd. There is no word on when Verizon retail stores will be seeing a fresh shipment. So if you really want to get your hands on one, I’d suggest ordering it online.
