FireFox Addon: Open Multiple URL’s In One Window

Researching the internet might have brought you to a point where you needed to compare two webpages side by side. Such juxtaposition can only be done if you use multiple browser windows and view the similarities (or differences) of the websites. Recently there have emerged websites which ask you to type in multiple URLs; you are then able to view those pages split in the same window. However this takes slightly longer because you first spend time on opening the individual websites, then you open this page-splitting site, then you copy in the URLs, and then the site opens these pages. The most time-efficient method to place webpages adjacently is to use the Firefox add-on SplitBrowser. When Firefox users equip their browser with this great add-on they are able to split webpages to any area in their current window. Suppose we are viewing Google’s search results for the word “tables”. To split the page, all you have to do is right-click anywhere in the visible page area and choose which direction you want the page to move to:

The webpage will be copied into an area you choose. Here is what the abovementioned search results page looked like when we chose the ‘Below’ option from SplitBrowser’s menu:

The new window’s area can be easily adjusted using your mouse pointer to resize it. You can now use the address bar to access a new page on the top area. To access a new page in the bottom area, hover your mouse pointer in the tab above it and its respective address bar will appear. Let us use the top area to find out what Yahoo search has to say about “tables”:

We now have two different areas in our browser window showing different pages. If you want the split up page to scroll in synchronization with the primary page, then click on the little icon encircled in the image above. SplitBrowser places no restrictions as to how many pages you can split up. If we now wanted to split up the Yahoo page, we could do so employing the same right-click procedure. You can keep on splitting windows to whatever number your RAM allows. Take a look at a sample image from the add-on’s homepage. There is no limit to the number of windows you split up. Note that SplitBrowser only affects the current Firefox tab. Your other tabs will be as they were, undisturbed. This little tool is a great Firefox add-on and shall benefit many users.
