There has been much talk recently about whether or not Apple is trying to move iTunes to a purely online environment and away from their native desktop client. As 9to5mac reports, there is much evidence behind all the speculation. As we reported a while ago, links for Apps have started brining you to a preview page on apple.com before prompting you to open iTunes, like this. You are now able to browse through all sections of the App Store and iTunes right from your browser via the iTunes preview page.
As 9to5mac reported a short while ago there is yet more evidence that Apple is planning on a strictly browser based iTunes experience after acquiring Lala to assist with streaming music online. 9to5 reports that everything but the final purchase can be done from the web, however without the ability to sync, manage music, and utilize all of iTunes other features from the browser, what’s the point? iTunes is basically a browser anyway.
What do you think?
