Prime View International (PVI) on April 1, 2010 said it has licensed its FFS (fringe field switching) technology to Japan-based IPS Alpha through PVI's Korea subsidiary Hydis Technologies.
The Hydis-developed FFS technology has been further developed into AFFS (advanced fringe field switching) and AFFS+. The benefits of AFFS technologies include readability under sunlight, low power consumption, wide viewing angle, fast response time and high brightness, PVI said.
Hydis has licensed its FFS technologies to Japan-based Hitachi Display, Sanyo Epson Image Devices, Korea-based LG Display and now IPS Alpha.
IPS Alpha is a TFT LCD panel joint venture (JV) established by several Japan-based TV vendors including Panasonic and Hitachi.
