Research in Motion has brought Toronto-based, privately held BlackBerry apps developer, Viigo for an undisclosed amount. The company develops applications based around delivering news content to handsets and has developed a range of "modules" that users can plug in based on their interests.

In a very short statement, Viigo confirmed that "Our team has joined RIM's global organization and will continue to bring our expertise in BlackBerry application development and real-time content delivery to the BlackBerry platform. The Viigo for BlackBerry app will also continue to be available for download through BlackBerry App World."
