This is a self-selecting post: If you’re worrying about how to apply energy efficiency technology to businesses based in the midwest, there is a relevant symposium being held May 5 in Des Moines, Iowa. If you’re not local to Des Moines, you can attend virtually.
Normally I wouldn’t necessarily tout an event like this, but there are some pretty noteworthy speakers headlining the sessions about green information technology, including:
* Randy Mott, the chief information officer for Hewlett-Packard
* Bill Weihl, the “green energy czar” of Google
* Simon Mingay, a research vice president for Gartner Research
* Andrew Fanara, team leader for the Energy Star Product Specifications Department with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
There are four information tracks: Green computing, alternative energy, public/private green initiatives, and forecasting technology’s impact by 2020.
