Ericsson looks to cooperation with Taiwan-based makers to boost LTE

While Ericsson has cooperated with China Mobile Communications and China Telecom to test LTE (Long Term Evolution) networks in China and Taiwan respectively, Taiwan is one of several markets in Asia that are expected to introduce 4G standards relatively early, according to Mats H Olsson, who heads Ericsson's operation in Greater China and North East Asia.

Ericsson hopes to cooperate with Taiwan-based mobile device makers in developing platforms and integrated applications, as well as in patent licensing, Olsson indicated.

Ericsson has been engaged in R&D of two modes of LTE, that is, TDD (time division duplexing) and FDD (frequency division duplexing).
