India 3G winners are Aircel, Reliance and Bharti

India closed its 3G auction after 34 days and 183 rounds. The biggest winners are Aircel, Reliance and Bharti, with each gaining spectrum in 13 circles. Idea has won spectrum in 11 circles, whereas Tata and Vodafone (NYSE: VOD) have won spectrum in nine circles, each. The provisional winning price for one slot of bandwidth to offer 3G mobile services across India is INR 167.51 billion, which is astonishing $3.70 billion.

The starting bid price for a pan-India slot was INR 35 billion, but no single operator appears to have gained 3G access to all of the country’s circles.

The government of India will raise INR 677.19 billion from the auctions, which is nearly double they’ve expected.

According to initial reports, Bharti and Reliance spent INR 123 and INR 85.9 billion, respectively, while Vodafone reportedly spent INR 116.2 billion.

And if you want to go into details, there’s the official Department of Telecommunications’ statement awaiting here.
