Nokia UK to Offer Free "Black Cab" Taxi Rides

Nokia UK is to sponsor a number of taxis, or "black cabs" in the UK for a week starting tomorrow as a promotion for its free Ovi Maps service. Members of the public that spot and flag down one of the Nokia Ovi Maps cabs in ondon, Manchester, Birmingham and Glasgowwill get their journey completely free of charge throughout the week.

Each cab is installed with a Nokia X6 device, preloaded with the OVI Maps satellite navigation service allowing passengers the chance to try the service out for themselves and track their journey using its guided turn-by-turn drive voice navigation system.

Commenting on the OVI Maps cabs, Nokia brand manager, Chris Jones said: "The OVI Maps cabs will help get people from A to B but allows them to record their own sat-nav voice packs so they can be calling the shots to the cabbie. So, if you would like to hear your girlfriend's, boyfriend's, son's or grandma's voice on your sat-nav then Own Voice for OVI Maps is just for you."

As well as the chance of a free cab ride, Nokia is also running a competition via Twitter giving five winners the chance to win an X6 16GB handset each day from Wednesday 26th May at 9am. To enter just tweet #NokiaFreeSatNav. They will select 5 winner every day.
