Worldwide IT spending to increase 4.6% in 2010

According to the leading research firm, Gartner, the global IT spending would surge about 4.6 percent to $3.4 trillion in the current year, due to favorable economic recovery and decline in the dollar prices.

However, the firm added that the worldwide spending on information technology was dropped 4.6 percent to $3.22 trillion in 2009.

It is reported that the current increase in spending can be accredited to the predicted decline in the value of the US dollar compared to 2009. All the major sectors such as computer hardware, software, IT services would contribute to the growth, with emerging markets leading the recovery, firm said.

The firm added that there will be slow recovery in Western Europe, the United States and Japan as compared to the emerging markets of Latin America, the Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific.

It is expected that the recovery will be slow over the next 12 to 18 months. But during the period, GDP will increase, people confidence will improve and credit crunch would decrease.
