Android 2.1 Update for the Droid Eris Leaked

A new updated build of the official Android 2.1 update for Verizon’s Droid Eris has just surfaced, bringing some important new features, and bug fixes with it. A member by the name of Caddyman, over at the wonderful Androidforums, has posted up the new Android 2.1 leak. It’s not a custom ROM, actually it’s the official build that Verizon is currently testing themselves. Droid Eris owners have been waiting patiently for the official Android 2.1 update, but as we have clearly seen in the past with Verizon, you never know when that update may come. It has actually been said that the official OTA update will come at the end of Q2, but still no real word yet from Verizon.

Anyways for those of you that cant wait any longer, the leaked build should hold you over just fine. Well actually this is the 2nd leaked build that Eris owners have seen, but this is the newer and more stable of the two. The Eris was just recently rooted last month, and the leaked Android 2.1 was the first ROM available for owners to flash. Some of the new features include the a ton of bug fixes, updated HTC SenseUI, improved battery life, new updated Google Voice app, and added full access to the Verizon Market. You can head over to Androidforums for a the full changelog, install instructions, and of course all the download links.
