Iraqi mobile network operator, Asiacell has again called on the government to step up efforts to curb terrorist attacks on its network infrastructure. The latest attack involved the bombing of one of Asiacell's telecom sites in Abu Guraib near Baghdad and led to severe damages to transmission devices and the company's property on the site.
Commenting on Asiacell's position against these inhumane terrorist activities, Asiacell's Chairman, Mr. Faruk Mustafa Rasool, said: "Asiacell is once again calling upon the Iraqi Government and all officials in Iraq to intervene and protect us from these terrorist attacks that are causing financial, physical and mental damage. We would like to stress that we will never reconsider our aims and ambitions that target the elevation of the Iraqi economy and building a new Iraq that serves its people. We will continue with our operations even if this requires that we become martyrs for our country, however, the Government must take a clear and strong stance against these criminal activities."
Mr. Rasool added: "Reaching our targets and ambitions with regards to building the Iraqi infrastructure requires that all the people of Iraq work together against the unfortunate political and security circumstances that we have been facing. We truly believe in this vision, which is why we have set ourselves as an example by refusing to change or veer off from our course. These cowardly terrorist attacks have in fact increased our belief in our responsibility and confirmed our commitment to remain at the forefront of the development process and perform our duties towards a prosperous and stable Iraq."
