First lady Michelle Obama says parents need to better monitor children and the amount of time they spend on the internet. She explains that Facebook and other social media sites are a new generational divide in raising children that her parents didn't have to deal with.
"It's confusing in so many ways. I have to admit, it's a generational issue. My generation didn't have Facebook and internet - you picked up the phone and called your friends on the phone," she explained.
During her visit to Mexico, Mrs. Obama tells CNN en Espanol, that she and the President limit the use of computer time for both daughters, Sasha and Malia. They stay involved by asking the girls lots of questions when they're on line and stay interested in their online activities.
"We ask a lot of questions about what our kids are doing while they are on the computer," she said.
Mrs. Obama said she and the President Obama discuss the dangers of Facebook and gossiping online with their daughters. She went onto say that more schools are educating both parents and children on the pros and cons of the Internet.
