ZTE, Huawei tapping ISDB-T mobile TV market in Latin America

China-based makers ZTE and Huawei Technologies are pushing handsets and 3G cards featuring ISDB-T (Integrated Services Digital Broadcasting-Terrestrial) mobile TV service in the Latin American market through cooperation with local telecom carriers, according to Taiwan-based handset makers.

The China vendors are actively promoting their products trying to seize the opportunities offered by the upcoming World Cup in June-July, the sources indicated.

ISDB-T mobile TV service is available in Brazil, Argentina and Chile, and will be launched in Uruguay, Peru, Venezuela, Bolivia and Paraguay in the next 15 months, the source said.

ZTE adopts Siano-developed ISDB-T mobile TV receiver ICs, while Huawei adopts DiBcom's, the sources indicated.
