Ireland's Eircom Shakes Up Management

Irish telecoms group, Eircom has announced a number of changes to its management, which also saw the CEO of its mobile division leave the company.

"After five and a half years living and working in Ireland, Larry Smith, CEO, Meteor has decided to return to the States," said a statement from the company.

Following a shake-up of the company, Meteor and Eircom will merge their retail operations over the next few months and the number of business units rationalised to focus on customer groups across both landline and mobile.

Former Virgin Media manager, Stephen Beynon has been appointed group managing director of consumer and small business -which will encompass both arms of the company.

"A transition unit has been established as the company modernises and restructures the business," the statement added.

Mr Paul Donovan, CEO, eircom Group said: "I would also like to personally thank Larry Smith for his tremendous contribution to our company and for making Meteor the successful and dynamic brand it is today. He will be missed and I wish him all the very best for the future."
