Sony Ericsson Spyro Announced

Sony Ericsson's latest affordable phones are on their way to market, here are details of the new Spyro Walkman handset coming 3rd quarter of 2010.

Sony Ericsson have some new mobile phones on the way in the form of the Walkman themed Spyro and Zylo handsets. Touted as "affordable without compromise on features" they are aimed at the cheaper end of the mobile phone scale away from the bigger, more expensive smartphones that are grabbing all the headlines.

The Spyro has Walkman integration, a major selling point for the phone as it is targeted at music lovers, it's a mobile phone with an emphasis on its music playing features, incorporating the very popular and successful spin off of the Sony Walkman brand. The Spyro has built-in TrackID technology which will identify any song they hear and display the name and details of the song, a very snazzy feature for music lovers.

Here's the current list of specs for the phone:

* 2.2-inch 240 x 320 pixels (QVGA) TFT display
* 5 MB of internal phone memory
* microSD Slot for up to 16 GB of external memory
* 2.0 megapixel camera with 2x digital zoom
* Video recording

Another big selling point for the Spyro is it's social media features, offering Twitter and Facebook integration plus Flickr and Picasa support for sharing your photos online by uploading directly from the handset.

The Spyro will be available in four colours: these will be 'Contrast Black', 'Sunset Pink', 'Spring Green', and 'Stealth Black'. Pricing has not yet been announced, we'll let you know when it is. The Spyro will be released sometime in the third quarter of this year.
