Set Custom Hotkeys To iTunes Tasks With HkTunes

As a media player, iTunes has a long way to go before it satisfies its users. One feature the player lacks is the ability to customize our hotkeys. Customizable hotkeys are more important than one would initially think. Suppose the hotkey combinations of iTunes are conflicting with the hotkeys combination of another program; things could get messy.

hktunes is a simple application that fills this gap left by iTunes.

hktunes is a small tool (564KB) that acts as an add on for iTunes. With this tiny tool installed, we can set custom hotkeys to our iTunes tasks. These tasks include play, pause, next track, previous track, volume up, and volume down.

We can set our own key combination by selecting any keyboard key (even the ones set specifically for our media players) along with a combination of CTRL, ALT, SHIFT, or the Windows Logo button.

When we are not using it, we can minimize the application to the System Tray where it operates without interrupting us. It monitors our hotkey combination and executes whichever task we have assigned to our keys.

Overall hktunes, despite being quite small, is an excellent addition to the iTunes player and a must have for all iTunes users.
