How to Use iPad as Second Display for your Mac with Avatron Air Display

Air Display from Avatron Software is an app making its way to the App Store soon that allows you to use your iPad as a second display or extension with your Mac display. While this may not sound as useful as ordinary multiple displays, it can come in handy in many scenarios. For instance, while focusing on work or reading on your main display, you could have Tweetdeck or a messenger of your choice on your iPad display to stay updated.

You will have to have your Mac and iPad connected to the same Wi-Fi network to use the app and you will also be able to do any necessary configuration via a System Preferences pane. Currently Air Display is only available for Mac OS X but Avatron promises “Windows support software will be available very soon!”.

* Graphic designers: Make Photoshop and Illustrator usable on your laptop by putting your tool palettes on the iPad screen.

* Musicians: Use your iPad as the ultimate control surface for Logic or Pro Tools.

* Programmers: Use the extra display area for such auxiliary development tools as Console, Terminal, and the Debugger.

* Business professionals: Move all of your iWork and Office palettes and inspector windows onto the iPad, and let your document fill the screen.
