Security software developer, Sipera Systems says that it has closed a funding round of $10 million, led by S3 Ventures, and includes participation by prior investors Austin Ventures, Duchossois Technology Partners (DTEC), Sequoia Capital, and STAR Ventures.
The funding brings Sipera's total to $48 million, and will help the company advance its smartphone UC security solutions and UC-Sec enterprise UC security product family. In addition, Sipera will use the funding to increase sales efforts in Asia, Europe and South America, and to support an expanded reseller partner program.
"Sipera is at the forefront of Unified Communications security solutions, including most recently protecting smartphones to enable safe, enterprise-class VoIP and UC for employees on the go. Given the explosive enterprise adoption of smartphones and UC applications including VoIP, IM and video, the timing is ideal for Sipera to capitalize on its leadership in comprehensive UC security," said Brian R. Smith, Managing Director of S3 Ventures. "By building on its existing customer base, channel sales program, global presence, and products and services, Sipera is well-positioned to increase sales and continue to secure critical business communications for enterprises around the globe."
