Google's April 1 prank for 2010 may not have actually fooled you this year.
Early this morning, Google announced it was changing its name to Topeka. The name choice came one month after the real Topeka city decided to temporarily change its name to Google. Topeka's mayor signed a proclamation to help convince Google his city was the best place for its upcoming launched of the broadband network.
Google used Fools Day to fire back at the mayor replacing a sign outside of headquarters with the new "Topeka" sign. The sign below was added so that people passing by knew how to use the name in a sentence. In addition the Google homepage was changed to say "Topeka" as well. If the city of Topeka didn't get the hint that Google isn't interested in settling down there, it sure put them on the map for a while.
