Toshiba Camcorders - SX900 and SX500 HD Unveiled

Two new Toshiba Camileo pocket camcorders will be heading to stores this July, here's a quick run down of what they will offer.

It's been a busy day for Toshiba, not only have they unveiled 4 new laptop computers this morning but now they have released details of 2 new Camileo camcorders in the form of the SX900 and SX500 HD.

The SX500 packs 5x optical zoom and take 10 megapixels still images, whereas the SX900 features a 9x optical zoom and takes 14 megapixel stills, both camcorders share the same 12x digital zoom and can decipher up to 12 individual faces with their built in face recognition technology.

Both Camileo camcorders have a 2.7-inch 230k-dot display and shoot 1080p HD video at up to 30 frames per second. If you want even higher frames rate for action footage or sports for example, you can record in 1080i instead and get up to 60 frames per second out of them. Both offer low light recording, however the SX900 can handle super low light conditions as low as 3 lux (that's the brightness of three candles combined).

As you can see both models are fully featured for their compact size, with the SX900 improving on the already impressive specs of the SX500 to offer slightly improved features at what we expect will be a slightly higher price point.

The Toshiba SX900 and SX500 HD pocket camcorders will be available in July, no price details as of yet but we'll post them up when we know more, so check back soon and check our news section for more info.
